HMRC has announced a fresh initiative to support growing, mid sized business. One welcome element of the initiative is a dedicated point of contact at HMRC.
The largest businesses have had such support for a decade or so and in the press release HMRC acknowledges the vital contribution these mid-size businesses make to our economy.
Another driver behind the HMRC initiative could be a desire to narrow the so-called tax gap. Calculating their tax liabilities correctly and paid at the right time can be a challenge for businesses focussing on growth, so we might imagine there is something in this measure for HMRC.
Nevertheless any initiative with the potential to improve the experience of dealing with the tax authority should be embraced
