Last night, (Thursday 10 November) the Midland Hotel in Manchester hosted the 2016 M.E.N. Business of the Year awards, celebrating the performance of the North West's top companies. Not only did the event showcase a number of the larger corporations in the region but it was great to see many Private Businesses represented and winning awards including, Want That Trend, the online fashion business, and F.Duerr & Sons, the family-owned jam, peanut butter and condiments maker.
Manchester and its surrounding area is a fantastic place to do business and last night was a reminder of this.
The evening was opened by Shelina Begum, M.E.N chief business reporter. She said: “A city’s economic success is measured by a number of factors. Manchester is renowned for its sporting success, its restaurants and bars, and its cultural offering, but it’s also a place to do business, where entrepreneurs have an appetite to start their business journey. We are a city where businesses love doing business. And behind those companies are the entrepreneurs. Their vision, tenacity and drive has not only seen their companies go from strength to strength but in many ways have also changed the face of Manchester making it the city it is today.”
